Tom Doughty Image

Apart from the obvious instrumental and vocal skills, what also comes across to each and every member of the audience is what a great attitude Doughty has he connects with the audience in a positive way. He is an enormous talent who provides a fantastic evening's entertainment.
Michael Prince – Blues in Britain

Tom is equally at home on the blues or folk stage, from intimate venues to main stage marquees, he’s rather partial to playing in churches!

Ian Murfitt Image
Rather good melodeon player and husband! Ian fills a spot on the stage on his own with songs or tunes borrowed off family members but is a versatile entertainer and musician in his own right playing currently with Top Cheshire Ceilidh band Madcap and with Webb and Roberts as Love in – no sorry, Lost in the Mist! Available for session work or MC.

Dave Dove
Dave is one of those unsung heroes quite literally – every time you meet him he says, ‘have a listen to this Liz’ and yet another new song appears and combined with his unique style on 12 string guitar makes for a very enjoyable listening experience. Dave is an accomplished guitar teacher and runs workshops for young people and old folks alike. A very talented musician.

Nigel Beck
Leicestershire based 6 & 12 string fingerstyle acoustic guitar player. Main influences are Leo Kottke, Pierre Bensusan, Antonio Forcione and Eric Roche. Nigel revels in his love for the propulsive flowing nature of Leo kottke's playing and Pierre Bensusan's music with its classical/jazz/celtic feel are a delight. That aside he’s a hugely competent guitar player in his own right, beautifully crafted music and poignant songs. Equally at home on the folk club or jazzy blues stages. Very much enjoys performing and Nigel will happily entertain in a variety of situations from intimate gigs to the festival stage. Please note he doesn’t usually perform in his overalls!

Peter Butler Another Manchester Singer Peter Butler is a purveyor of great songs accompanied by some excellent guitar playing. He spent his early years sitting at the feet of such guitar luminaries as John James, Bert Jansch, John Martyn and the like and learned to play finger picking guitar to a standard that you rarely hear these days. His repertoire ranges from ragtime to classical, from traditional to modern. An evening with Peter Butler consists of some outstanding songs, interspersed with the occasional finger-breaking instrumental linked with a relaxed but dry sense of humour.
Bandersnatch, rich voacal harnmonies and excellent musicianship, always a great addition to your folk club or festival stage. Always slightly different, rich and varied repertoire.

Zoox are Linda Game, Jo May and Becky Menday and are a superb trio serving up a cocktail of new melodies and traditional tunes with a delicate balance of strings, wind, percussion and voices. Be prepared for a fabulous array of instruments from contrabassoon to congas. Exciting arrangements, great musicianship and infectious energy typify the performances of Zoox in a show which is guaranteed to entertain and enchant. Their rich and varied influences include Celtic, Appalachian, Klezmer, African, Cuban, rock, and classical.

Dr Bob and the Wildboys
This is a story – give yourself a few minutes to read about how this bluegrass came about! For many years Dr Bob travelled the deep, deep, south of Cheshire with his little dog called Boo, in retrospect, not a very well chosen name for a dog of such a nervous disposition. Keeping to the back roads, he went from town to town selling Dr Bob’s Special Elixir. For the benefit of American readers, Cheshire is the largest county in the England, spanning several times zones and remains to this day largely unexplored. The Elixir was made to a special recipe so secret that Dr Bob himself had to keep a blindfold on every time he made up a new batch. A brief exert from the label will give the reader some idea of the power of this potion: “cures impotence in rabbits, encourages cats to sit by the fire and makes parents invisible to teenagers. Avoid contact with brightly coloured fabrics”. Now I am sorry I haven’t got room to put the rest of the story here so you’ll have to have a look on line to find the rest. Needless to say – the Wildgirl has joined them!

Garron Frith
Garron is a singer songwriter from the North West. He recently supported The Saw Doctors, Midge Ure, Ian McNabb, Imelda May and Madelaine Perou. He has a quietly efficient style of guitar playing and telling the story. A quality performer.
‘One of the North West’s best kept secrets – that is until now!’ Maverick

Lizettes
Dr Bob and the Wildboys asked Liz to join them as an occasional guest singer! She became for a time the 'Wildgirl!' They had such fun, however like all great bands they began to digress and by the time they'd added some much more 'girlie' material and a double bass they realised that they had accidentally formed a new band 'The Lizettes!' Formed on a busy night at Sandbach Folk Club when the name Lizettes just tripped off Winston’s tongue! Liz has always yearned to sing with a band like this so joined by blistering fingers Keith Haynes and mellowed out bass player Adrian Thompson, occasional additional harmonies from the Roaring Girl June Bailey and of course Dr Bob himself on 'instruments' their repertoire includes songs from artists such as Dusty Springfield and Sandy Denny to John Martyn and Van Morrison and Liz’s own special favourite Bonnie Raitt and they range from deep blues to a lighter country folk style. Liz has never written songs as such (don't you think she has enough to do!!?) but there are so many aspects of women’s voice that she loves that there is no end to the material that she and the band choose. Liz still appears with the 'Wildboys' and made a debut not only on youtube this year, but also at the Middlewich Folk and Boat Festival supporting Thea Gilmore amongst other gigs. The band put a mix of both Wildboys and Lizettes material together for The Antrobus Beer Festival and have several more gigs coming up including Folk Club sets. The Lizettes and Wildboys have their own shiny new PA system and know how to work it! And they are looking forward to more gigs as we go into 2010.

Thom Kirkpatrick - Northwich-born singer-songwriter.
Thom Kirkpatrick is swiftly establishing himself in the UK folk scene since his gig with The Beautiful Noise at Middlewich (June 2006).He has been back since!! MFAB 2009 he appeared at the last minute - as always the elusive Thom!! We couldn't track him down until the last minute as he'd been touring with Switches! Combining the Beautiful Noise's unconventional percussive arrangements and line up with a sincere, melodic approach to songwriting, through the complex polyphonic nature of his arrangements, he never detracts from the intimacy of his song material. Drawing equally on folk, South African rhythms and Indie influences, the 'beautiful noise' is subtly layered in such a way that it warrants repeated listening. Not simply approaching traditional styles with an orchestral tag like many before him, Thom's music is a stripped-back, acoustic and organic experience exploring human themes of loss, trepidation, time and age, whilst maintaining a lively, rich and driven approach. Mix with The Beautiful Noise and add to this the utterly involving and mesmerising experience of watching Thom Kirkpatrick. One of those rare finds — a singer songwriter with a genuine sincerity, matched only by his talent and passion of performing ... for you. Thom is a rare talent - outstanding in fact. Every gig he does is pretty much guaranteed a sell out

Last Ones Out – Pete Latham’s blues band.

HOT OFF THE PRESS! Now you may recognise this band. Some of them are coming to join ‘InAnyEvent’ with the addition of a new singer…. News to follow.

Garva

The Purple Gang have some sad news, Stuart (Pev) Pevitt died on the 6th January. Bob Harris played a tribute to Pev on his show last Sat eve. Lead singer with the band from 1998 – 2009. I await news of the band plans.

Elbow Jane
Elbow Jane are a premiere 5 piece acoustic band comprising guitars, bazouki, mandolin, piano, bass, percussion and expressive vocals. From thought provoking self-penned songs…to unique Interpretations of the worlds best songsmiths. One of the best value bands on the circuit currently. Equally at home on the folk club stage or the big main stage venue.

Breeze and Wilson
These two lovely guys do a lot of work for charity, play incredibly well great music, tight harmonies and accomplished playing – how many guitars? They are famous in Canada you know!

Fiona Simpson
Beautiful vocals, guitar playing. Fiona sings beautifully and plays her songs with great emotion and consideration, solo or with her band
